Scrooge McDuck is the World's Richest Duck. He first appeared in Donald Duck Four Color #178 and was created by Carl Barks.
Early Life (1867-1947)Edit
Scrooge was born in 1867 in Glasgow, Scotland as the son of Fergus McDuck, and Downy O' Drake-McDuck. He also has two sisters named Matilda McDuck and Hortense McDuck. He earned his first dime when shining a ditchdigger's boots. Scrooge has travelled around the world a bit since he was 13 when he had his share of jobs which include being a worker then a captain on a riverboat, a cowboy, and a prospector but it took 20 years before he struck gold in the Yukon. He became a billionaire and moved to Duckburg Calisota with his sisters in 1902 after leaving the Yukon and feeling that he doesn't belong in Scotland anymore. Scrooge continued to build his fortune until he became The Richest Duck in The World. He got estranged from his family until Christmas Day in 1947 when he invited his nephew Donald Duck and his own three nephews Huey Dewey and Louie to Christmas Dinner.
Later Life (1947-1967)Edit
During the Last 20 years in Scrooge's Life Scrooge, Donald, and The Nephews have spent a lot of time going on Treasure Hunts or protecting his forutne from The Beagle Boys, his Number One Dime from Magica De Spell, or his status as The World's Richest Duck from Rival Billionaires such as Flintheart Glomgold or John D. Rockerduck.
Last Adventure and Death (1967)Edit
According to Donald Duck, Scrooges last adventure was "quite the dilly" as he showed his graveside to Daisy Duck.
According to Don Rosa Scrooge would have passed away in 1967. However, not all authors agree on that point, and certainly not Carl Barks himself, whose stories written after 1967 were supposed to happen in present day. Various Norwegians and Italians authors still present Scrooge in a modern-day setting, living the same kind of adventures as in the 1947-1967 period.
Scrooge is very stingy but he is honest in his own way. He may appear to be mean sometimes but he is just protective of his money. In some of his earliest stories Scrooge may appear to be mean spirited but he has become more Sympathetic after getting his own comic book. Scrooge loves his money, but not necessarily in a greedy fashion. More so, he loves the sentimental value his treasures have. He claimed he could recite a story for each and every piece of gold he's come across, which appears to be true.
Scrooge's Relatives include his nephew Donald Duck, his grandnephews Huey Dewey and Louie, his niece Della Duck, his sisters Matilda and Hortense McDuck, his brothers-in-law Quackmore Duck, and Ludwig Von Drake, his parents Fergus and Downy McDuck, his uncles Angus"Pothole" McDuck and Jake McDuck, his grandparents Dirty Dingus McDuck, and Molly Mallard, his great uncle Quagmire McDuck, his double great grandfather Hugh "Seafoam" McDuck, and his ancestors Matey Malcolm McDuck, Sir Eider McDuck, Sir Quackly McDuck, Sir Swamphole McDuck, Sir Roast McDuck, and Sir Stuft McDuck.
Other than Donald and the Nephews Scrooge has friends who include Miss Emily Quackfaster (Scrooge's Secretary), Gyro Gearloose, Daisy Duck and her nieces April May and June, Grandma Duck, Gus Goose, Gladstone Gander, and Glittering Goldie O' Gilt (Scrooge's former love interest from the Yukon).
Scrooge's Enemies include The Beagle Boys, Magica De Spell, Flintheart Glomgold, John D. Rockerduck, and many others who include Soapy Slick, The McVipers, The Whiskervilles, Arpin Lusene The Black Knight and Argus McSwine.
Scrooge lives in his Money Bin in Duckburg except for the brief period of time between 1942 and 1947 when he lived in a mansion.
