Fulton Gearloose is a minor character from the Heroic Age Era and the Golden Era.

Fulton is shown to be one of the first Junior Woodchucks, and the one third of the Duckburg Chapter when Scrooge evicted them from Fort Duckburg upon his arrival in 1902. The Junior Woodchucks were regarded as the local boys' club, and therefore, Fulton must have lived with his parents in Duckburg, although Ratchet Gearloose is never shown since "The Cowboy Captain of the Cutty Sark".

Fulton was probably influenced by his father's tinkering with machines and opened his own Fulton's Fix-It Shop, where Donald would later tend to take broken items.

Fulton had a son, Gyro, who seemed to have the inventive talent of his grandfather, Ratchet. While his first inventions were a failure, Fulton had hopes that Gyro would grow up to become a master mechanic, like Ratchet, unlike him, who was more of a repairman.

Fulton retired around the time after the McDuck Calamity, and passed his Fix-It shop on to Gyro. Gyro would eventually evolve the shop into an invention laboratory, while he took the Fix-It business to the streets, with his mobile "Fix-It-While-U-Wait" cart.

  • His name may be a reference to Robert Fulton, an American engineer and inventor who is widely credited with developing the first commercially successful steamboat.
  • Gearloose comes from the phrase "loose gear", used to describe Gyro's rather eccentric personality. Gears also have mechanical uses.
